I'm pretty sure my ASUS laptop needs a new battery but I just wanted to confirm. My Windows 10 bar says it won't go past 60% anymore. Just a few weeks ago - it always reached 100%. Should I just get a new battery or is there something else that I can try? Thanks.

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

It’s possible you may need to replace the battery. If you have it plugged in and it shows it’s not charging it may also be the power cord. That would be cheaper to replace. The best I have gotten out of a laptop battery myself is about 5 years before having to replace it. My clue was even after sitting at the desk for hours plugged in, 3 days later it would not start without being plugged in. Another warning sign i believe is the power cord got very hot to the touch when try to charge the battery.

Before going to change, try to do the following, when charging, the light on the laptop battery icon may turn green from red when the battery is charged 95% (or near about that) but not reaching 100%. When you see the green color, shutdown the laptop, but leave it connected to the charger. After a while, again power on. After logging to desktop/home screen, verify that, either it shows 100%.
