Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Most INQ messages from BATCH will be sent to the QSYSOPR message queue. If you are looking to get the ID, you can get it from there or you can try getting it by using DSPLOG QHST. If these are common problems, you may want to try putting a MONMSG in the CL program to handle the common error.

Normally you should be looking at RCVMSG command. The Batch job would normally send it to QSYSOPR.

Thank you, but DSPLOG QHST will take long time and many jobs are waiting for replay.
I was thinking about a quicker way.
I used  QUSLJOB api to get the list of all jobs in msgw status into an output file for each row in the file I would like to add the message id and text of the message that this job waiting for.

QUSLJOB can tell you that a job is waiting for a reply to a message (key 1307). If the job is waiting on a specific message then QUSRJOBI and format JOBI0200 can be used to get the message key and queue. From there the message handler APIs can tell you pretty much everything you ever wanted to know about the message (including the message ID, replacement data, etc.).
