I am new to AS/400. I am very much interested in learning from administration to development, but I need help in configuring connection on my system itself. I have installed IBM Personal Communication, System I Navigator and IBM System i Access for Windows on my personal computer. Now I want to start it on my personal machine. What settings do I need to make and what else I require to make it running on my laptop only?

You will not be able to test those things without an iSeries Host. Some sites offer parts of iSeries hardware to try out development and test the developed programs.

You have all the tools set on your end but do you have an actual AS/400, iSeries IP address to connect to? What are you looking to do? Unless you have an actual machine you can forget compiling programs, working with subsystems, system configuration and security configurations. It's like having a car with no engine in it.

Many years ago there were two personal versions of the AS/400. The p1 - One User only and the P2 - Up to 3 users. They were designed for sales. We used to carry one with us when we went to client sites to demo our product.

These models do not exist anymore as performance was not good enough.
