Can I write a record into PF having Maximum members is *NOMAX and Number of members is 0? In COBOL there is on file having same structure and they write the Records using WRITE opcode. They defined the file like this way:
SELECT GIBLPF            ASSIGN TO DATABASE-GIBLPF

ORGANIZATION IS SEQUENTIAL

ACCESS MODE IS SEQUENTIAL

FILE STATUS IS GIBLPF-FILE-STATUS.

SELECT SORT-GIBLPF       ASSIGN TO DISK-GIBLSRT.

FD  GIBLPF                      LABEL RECORDS STANDARD

DATA RECORDS ARE GIBLPF-REC.

01  GIBLPF-REC.

COPY DDS-ALL-FORMATS OF GIBLPF
I don't understood the meaning of that.

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

As far as I know, regardless of the language you are using, unless the PF contains at least 1 member you cannot write to it. I believe that is a requirement of the OS.

I am not current on COBOL (must be over 35 years) but for the iSeries OS you would have to at least add a member to the file before you can write to it.
