You could also use the as/400 addin for Excel. This let’s you import a file directly or even write a SQL script to retrieve the DB2 data from the i-Series.  info on the addin can be found here. LINK

    For small amounts od data (eg data on display) you can use Copy/Paste functions from 5250 session into Excell Sheet.
    Printed reports can be copied to *txt files in the IFS and picked up  by Excell. Besides the Excell addin Excell also allows for SQL (ODBC) copies from iSeries.

    Just a heads up on the copy/paste method. Excel can do some funny things with your pasted data depending on what it is. A lot of times you may have problems with date fields. Some times they do not paste properly, it changes the format.
