AS/400 screen display

How do we change the screen's display? The top of the screen shows "Session A [24 x 80]. We need to be able to show more of the information that resides well to the right of the display. The only way we can view that info is to do a "print screen" and paste to Word. We'd like to be able to view all the information without having to go through the print screen, paste to Word and print just to see the last columns. Can you offer any advice on how to reconfigure the display to show more info? My guess is that we need to display a different session with more columns at a smaller font size, but I know nothing about AS/400 systems. We just use the AS/400 PRISM software to check our warehouse forklifts who use Prism to log their forklift status, etc.

at the top of the screen, click on communication, then configure, you will see under type of emulation where you can change the screen size to 27×132

If you are looking at a windows 5250 emulation screen, at the top of the window select EDIT-PREFERENCES-APPEARANCE-WINDOW SETUP. Here you will be able to change the “Session A” information that gets displayed at the top of the window.

That info is set up in the user preferences for the Client Access session. IF you click EDIT > PREFERENCES > APPEARANCE > WINDOW SET-UP  you can change what gets displayed. Not sure what other information you may be looking for. You can always try the AS/400 command DSPDEVD. You may have to put together a CL program to do every device on your system.

Isn't DSPSIZ(*DS4) required to actually display data beyond 80 characters?

Yes, even if you change the config to allow 27x132, it won't do anything unless the *DSPF in question actually uses *DS4. But at least you will see the extra info in those screens that do enable it, which is better than nothing.

Changing the display device to 27x132 will display spooled output in 132 columns. In case the information is captured from an OS400 display file of an application you need to modify the DSPF with *DS4 and modify your program to use that extra space.
