Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

This just means that you can only include letters and numbers in the field (and no special characters like ! or %). I’m assuming this is for a username you’re creating.

I am assuming that you are doing this for a user profile or password. What a lot of the systems are requiring now is you place a number after your name when creating the profile such as Bob.Hannah1@???.com. This shows first name, last name, the 1 and the rest of the profile. The 1 could be any number or more than one 1 such as 1234 and then the rest of your profile. Passwords may require numbers and alphanumeric characters to be added as well as upper case letters.

The reason for the number requirement is to allow multiple users with the same name to be uniquely identified. Example  JohnSmith  , JohnSmith1 , JohnSmith1234 would allow 3 people with the same name to create a valid account. A lot has to do with the standars in place for creating the account. Some sites will require at least 1 capitalization and 1 numeric.

I agree. For user names some site does not allow  special  characters, though others allow.
So just include numbers and alphabet, no special characters.
    eg. wednesday1234

To list all combinations would take forever to type in. If you are forced to enter a number to meet their requirements you may just have to keep trying until it gets accepted. Examples: JohnSmith1,  JohnSmith2,  JohnSmith3,  JohnSmith4
    JohnSmith5,  JohnSmith6,  JohnSmith7,  JohnSmith8
    JohnSmith9,  JohnSmith10, JohnSmith11, JohnSmith12
    JohnSmith13, JohnSmith14, JohnSmith15....

Some sites will may make a suggestion if your name ID has already been used. Like JohnSmith23456, JohnSmith784, JohnSmith95126. It's just the name and a random number that has not been used to create an account.

If you are getting an error creating the account, could you post the error message and if it's a website we would have access to the web address and we can see what the problem may be.

@SwatiKoliHarish: To write "Swati Koli" in alphanumeric form, type this:
    Swati Koli
Those are all "alphanumeric" characters from the English alphabet. "Alphanumeric" simply means the characters used for normal reading and writing. The characters are the alphabet ("alpha-") plus the numeric digits ("-numeric"), often along with some punctuation characters plus a blank/space character.

Different languages may have different alphanumeric character sets.

@Haya Fatima: That is alpha numeric. That means the 26 characters from a - z and the numerals 0 - 9.  There may be a few other site that will also allow a few special characters but the ones I mentioned are standard.

You do it by typing on a keyboard. The keys show what alphanumeric characters appear when you press each key.

Did you read the thread before asking? Was there a part that wasn't clear?

@kelliekuhnie13: Alphanumeric and Alphanumerals mean the same thing. It may be a language barrier issue with different terms. Still for the most part it's the letters A - Z and numbers 0 - 9. You should be safe using those.

@kelliekuhnie13, alphanumeric means, either you put your username as letters like A-Z or a-z or numbers like 0-9 with mixed mode. Check that website asks for either special characters like @, _ etc. You can follow their suggestion which can be found on their website. But be careful while sharing your personal details, if any.

Besides the letters A - Z and numbers 0 - 9. You need to consider the language set and character set being used. This can vary slightly as well as the site design asking for the information. Some may allow special characters and blanks where other sites may not.

@SHASHIKOTIYAN: you just typed it into this site. Your account name is a valid alphanumeric value. IF you are still having issues with trying this on another site and it is being rejected, then let us know what site. Some site may have certain editing and restrictions as to what can be used depending on the filed the data is being entered into.
