    Just took a look, I don't see a way to do this. Please provide a little more info on what you are attempting to accomplish, there may be a better way to accomplish what you want. Are you trying to do booklet publishing?

    Thank you for looking at this. I am developing a 1000 page reference book.  The left side pages are In an Excel workbook. The right side pages are Word documents.

    Have you looked into using mail merge to put the excel pages into the Word document ?

    How do you currently plan on putting these two documents into one reference book? Even following azohawk's idea you still have a bit of work to do.

    Yes,difficult and time-consuming.  Once the development is completed, the book will be printed.
    I see some coding options for developing complex page numbering and footers, but I can't figure out alternate page numbering.
    Yes, an electronic solution would be best.

    What are the Excel pages actually comprised of? Are there really 500 spreadsheets to be placed in this book? If these are not pulling in data from an external source, why not just create a table in the word document on every other page?

    I figured out how to do it !  We can program the page numbering by using {} (Important, don't type them; use ctrl+F9 to get the braces) and recognize that within the program, {PAGE} captures the internal MS Word virtual page number.  Example:  { if {PAGE} = 1 ""  " = {PAGE} * 2 - 2}" } will leave the first page blank and will number subsequent pages 2, 4, 6, etc  This is really neat !!
    Thank to all of you who responded to my question.

    One typo in my example:
        " = {PAGE} ... should have been "{= {PAGE} ...
