I have a 1 in by 2 in black indicator on my screen from time to time. It indicates 0 to 100. What does it indicate and how do I turn it off? It interferes with my reading the music on the screen. It is there sometimes even when Adobe Reader is off.

Software/Hardware used:
Lenovo ideapad flex 15 i7, Windows 8.1 or 10

Does this appear only when using Adobe Reader? If so is it up to date with all the patches? It may be an issue with Windows 10 compatibility but I cannot say as I do not use Windows 10. These are the times I wish we could see a image of the problem.

It appears with just opening the laptop.  It's an indicator that is a black, vertically aligned rectangle near the upper left corner of the screen with a grey central bar that has a white tip to the grey bar and, I assume, a percentage number at the bottom of the bar.  When I open the computer top it is on the screen and increases quickly from about 50 to 100 when it is connected to AC.  It then stays there for about 10 minutes either while the AC is connected or not.  I'm not sure if it is a battery indicator or some other indicator.  But I haven't been able to find out any info on this, or a way to control it (on or off).  When I open the computer I am usually ready to play the music (read pdf's), but this indicator makes it difficult to read the pdf.
    Thanks.

I've read a few articles and it may be something referred to "phantom touch". the track pad may think you are using it. Two solutions I red are to use a USB mouse or this fix from Lenovo.

Based on your description and without being able physically see it, it is your battery charge indicator. Below a certain point in the charge, it appears that yours stays on the screen. You also do not say anything about your O/S, but this can be changed by going into the settings, control panel, power options. From there you will have to look for battery display options. There should be a place to turn off the battery display, or set it to display below a certain level.
