There were several odd sorts of symmetry to last week’s story about the police officer on trial for blackmailing sex offenders
Former police constable Amerdeep Johal hoped to extort £419,000 in one month from a dozen sex offenders and a suspected criminal after obtaining their details from the Metropolitan Police’s criminal intelligence computer system, Crimint, the Old Bailey heard. He is also said to have texted suspected criminals on the computer offering to help them commit or conceal crime.
Johal said he was acting under duress from another convict. Downtime wonders if this was a 419 scammer who is fond of the number?
