The Tinder Foundation has changed its name after years of explaining to lovelorn singletons that it exists to help people use the internet to get a leg-up in life, rather than a leg-over.
The digital inclusion charity is, in its own words, “swiping left” on the Tinder Foundation name to become the Good Things Foundation, having grown tired of having to explain that its work has nothing to do with the nation’s favourite hook-up app.
“It’s time to be clearer about who we are – and who we’re not,” explained the Foundation’s CEO, Helen Milner.
“It’s been fun at times to break the ice with: “No, not that Tinder.” But the confusion hasn’t helped us connect with everyone in the right way.”
Now, if ever there was a statement that warrants a follow-up interview with Downtime and further investigation, it is almost certainly this one.
As Downtime demands to know more about some of the “confused” connections using the Tinder name may have previously caused the Foundation to make.
