khall2 Profile: khall2

How cool is this. Students at Rice University, Houston, have invented a spray-on battery.

The lithium-ion battery that can be painted on virtually any surface. All you need to do is spray on each of the different components of a battery in layers, add a solar panel and you’ve got yourself a power source!

This means traditional packaging for batteries has given way to a much more flexible approach that allows all kinds of new design and integration possibilities for storage devices,”said university boffins.

“There has been lot of interest in recent times in creating power sources with an improved form factor, and this is a big step forward in that direction.”
