Send in the cyber-priests

WAshford Profile: WAshford

The Catholic Church, desperate to prove it is still relevant and moving with the times, plans to make use of new media to help priests do a better job.

Pope Benedict XVI has urged priests discover new possibilities on the internet for carrying out their ministry, such as using blogs, videos and pictures to get their message across.

But, the Pope has cautioned priests against becoming celebrities of the web.

It seems strange to Downtime that he is so keen to avoid promoting anything like a cult following, which is really where it all started, isn’t it?
