Money laundering is a risky business, and so is sending clothing to the local launderette, it seems, without first removing all USB storage devices contacting potentially sensitive information.

Selling data could easily become a second revenue stream for any less than scrupulous cleaners tapping into the contents of the estimated 9,000 USB devices that go to the cleaners each year in the UK.

A survey revealed that each UK dry cleaner finds an average of two USB sticks a year. Aspiring data brokers take note. No need to think up elaborate ways of stealing data, just open a dry cleaning business and wait for the data to come to you.
