Caffeine addiction draws thousands to new London website

Online entrepreneur Alasdair Monk has attracted more than 40,000 visitors to his new website in just two weeks with the promise of a productive caffeine fix

Inspired by a map of Wi-Fi hotspots at Reading University campus, the 23-year-old set up a website for sharing recommendations of coffee shops in London where people can work while imbibing their favourite hot drink.

The recommendations include details such as how to access the Wi-Fi and whether it is free or not, availability of working space, quality of coffee and food.

Monk, of Wapping in east London, says he checks every recommendation himself, which is why he currently does not plan to extend the service beyond London and New York.

He says there has been demand from other cities, but would prefer to cover London and New York well before expanding anywhere else.

Coffee with work has mixed blessings for the male population. On the one hand it could boost productivity and caffeine apparently helps stop hair loss, but the reason it works is that it suppresses testosterone, the number one hair killer.

Something to think about when you take a break from your work to much on your cinnamon bun, washed down by your favourite java.
