Everyone seems to be rushing out to buy an iPad, most of them for no real reason beyond the fact that they represent the latest and coolest new tech gadget.

Security professionals are regularly blaming top executives as being the main culprits for driving the use iPads without any real business use or regard for security.

The real danger, say security professionals, is that top execs are likely to put sensitive data onto their iPads, but not give IT the heads up in order to keep it properly secure.

Top execs at the BBC are no exception, it seems, reportedly splashing out £40,000 on iPads even though the devices are not approved for general use by staff.

The BBC claims the iPads were bought for testing purposes to see how they could help employees with their work.

A likely story, thinks Downtime.
