Barclays ‘technical error’ leads to £100bn overdraft

We have all come to understand that bankers’ greed and -incompetence knows no boundaries, but Barclays Bank customer Donald Moffat must have been surprised to find that he had run up an overdraft of £100bn on his current account.

After Moffat insisted that he had not withdrawn the money to finance a rather spectacular Christmas, Barclays said it was a “technical error”.

Readers may wish to check their accounts. It might be the banks’ latest strategy to recover their margins.
