Open source System i applications?

Mark Fontecchio Mark Fontecchio Profile: Mark Fontecchio

David Vasta suggests having a site dedicated to the creation and sharing of open source applications on the IBM System i. He points to an existing site,, which frankly doesn’t look like it’s been active for a while.

Perhaps there is room within the iSociety for this type of discussion? The group has a fairly active forum, and if a discussion was started on open source applications that started to grow in popularity, perhaps a special page on the site could be dedicated to it. I’m not sure.

Oh I didn't think of that. We could talk about it on I have talked to the owner of the this week and he is very responsive to email. The idea was good, but I think the turn out has been a bit small. I would like to see a site with 5 killer applications that the community can use now and support as well and then others will come. OpenNTF took that approach, they deployed a killer template and the rest is history. -David
