Samsung has unveiled the Sliding PC 7 Series which is, as you’d expect, slidey! A Windows 7 tablet / laptop hybrid.
The screen slides over the keyboard and can be used as a tablet. Great idea, but whether it works well as a tablet remains to be seen.
Powered by Intel’s 1.66GHz Z670 Oak Trail processor the tablet/laptop features a 1366 x 768-resolution, 10.1-inch 340-nit touchscreen, 32GB / 64GB SSD options, and 2GB of RAM.
It runs Windows 7 at its core, with the ability to boot within 20 seconds, but has Samsung’s Touch Launcher that has preloaded applications optimised for touchscreen with others available through Samsung’s App Manager and Windows Product Scout.
As far as connections go it comes with a USB and HDMI port as well as a 4-in1 card reader.
It’s also got an ambient light sensor and a 1.3MP camera with the battery life at around nine hours.
Price tag is set around $699 (£450) and is due to be released in March.
