Mobile health technologies can be particularly beneficial to older adults, though their full potential is only starting to emerge, says the Center for Technology and Aging in its latest report, “mHealth Technologies: Applications to Benefit Older Adults.”

The Center’s recently released report  provides an overview of mobile health technologies  and discusses five key areas where mHealth shows the greatest potential for improving health outcomes for older Americans: Managing chronic disease, using medications properly, avoiding safety risks, accessing online health information and staying well.

The purpose of the mHealth technologies report is to identify issues and opportunities for the Mobile Health (mHealth) Diffusion Grants Program, established in January 2011 by the CTA to provide funding for projects that “focus on the adoption and diffusion of mobile health technology-enabled services to improve the health of older adults, while reducing the burden on clinicians and caregivers.”
