Are you asking about configuring and existing SSH installation, or installing SSH?
If you’re wanting to configure, you typically edit the sshd_config (using sudo, etc.) file (/etc/ssh/sshd_config) to meet your needs. Typical configuration options include disallowing root login (PermitRootLogin no), disallowing empty passwords (PermitEmptyPasswords no), and requiring password authentication (PasswordAuthentication yes). Keep in mind that, after configuration changes are made, you’ll need to restart the service (sudo service sshd restart).
