When environmental records become unmanageable... Two internal groups on this topic: one states the more records, the more data, the more info, the more accurate the trending and info for forecasting, future projects, etc. The other group states let's not go past what is required per regulatory bodies, less we find ourselves in trouble for not keeping everything the other group suggests. How do we find a balance? I see the value in keeping more;historical data is really critical to our applications, however I know that a self imposed requirement is the most dangerous kind. We simply cannot manage a records database that contains everything forever. I would love to start a discussion on this and get some perspective from folks in other industries. I am in waste-to-energy, by the way. Thanks in advance, I look forward to sharing some ideas with you.
