My SQL Saturday session

Colin Smith Colin Smith Profile: Colin Smith

Since it has been about a year since I have done this I was a little nervous but not too bad. I got set up and people started to get in the room and find seats. before I knew it I was out of seats and people were still walking in. That is a great feeling. By the time I got started I had many people standing and I think that my final count was 39 people. That is the most that I have had in my room to this point.  I asked how many had never done anything with Powershell and I was a bit shocked. Most of the room, I would say at least 80 or more %. So they were in the right place and it was on like Donkey Kong. At this point all the nerves subsided and I did my thing and talked all about the basics and that went well, but I was trying to hurry a bit through that as I really wanted to get to some demo’s and show off the cool things that you can do with Powershell. So about 20 or 25 minutes in we hit the demos for the rest of the session. we got through about 13 of my scripts that I had prepared and I think everyone liked them. I had some good questions and I really like getting that interaction with the crowd. It lets me know that they are paying attention and that they are engaged and enjoying the content.

At the end I had a few people come up and thank me and ask some more questions and that is also really nice. I had a few hand in the speaker evals to me directly and those were all very positive, but I am really looking forward to getting all the session evals back and see what the larger group had to say.

Thanks for coming out to my session and if you were in the session and have some time please go out to Speakerate and let me know what you thought. Thanks again.
