ServiceNow continues its march forward into industry awareness and public consciousness (Ed — if those two aren’t the same thing) with a set of new cloud services augmentations.

The firm now pushed its cloud management solution forward to now support Microsoft Azure.

What is a ‘service model’, anyway?

To take a step back for a moment, ServiceNow (as a company) defines itself as an operation to provide a ‘service model’ that defines, structures and automates the flow of work in a business, removing dependencies on email and spreadsheets.

The ServiceNow model is supposed to enable service management for every department in the enterprise including IT, human resources, facilities, field service etc.

So to Microsoft Azure (or ass-your, as our colonial cousins across the pond like to call it), ServiceNow’s play is the provision of a service model that gives visibility and control of a Microsoft cloud infrastructure.

“Organisations using public, private, and hybrid cloud services can easily address quality, security and compliance issues with a proven management solution. IT departments are being stretched to their limits trying to meet internal demands, control spending and maintain compliance and security. They simply don’t have the tools or processes needed to effectively manage the increasing variety of cloud resources,” said the firm, in a press statement.

A single system of record

The ServiceNow Cloud Management single management interface means cloud-centric software application developers and data engineers can use a single system of record to automate cloud management processes across cloud services.

Dave Wright, chief strategy officer at ServiceNow has commented on this news and said that the firm’s mutual customers now have the tools to quickly deploy their cloud resources while also maintaining control and compliance across all public, private and hybrid clouds.
