This is the 1000th post on the Computer Weekly Developer Network in its seven year of existence.

It would have been inappropriate not to thank all the firms and their representative communications engines who have supplied commentary since this ‘column’ style blog started way back in July 2010 when we were still discussing developments for Windows Phone 7.

So, thank you.

From mobile, to cloud

One of the most fundamental shifts we have seen over the past seven years has been the shift to cloud, obviously.

If you click back on the ‘July’ link above you’ll see that we ran a story entitled I am a software developer; therefore I am a mobile developer… running this today we would need to change that to I am a software developer; therefore I am a cloud developer?

Looking at 2024

If we consider where we will be in another seven years time, will 2024 see us write I am a software developer; therefore I am a AI developer, I am a software developer; therefore I am a Quantum Computing developer, or perhaps I am a software developer; therefore I am a (not yet invented platform) developer.

Thank you once again to everyone who has read, contributed and been involved with this blog in every way.
