On Office 365 and Yammer for partners

Microsoft officially moved the Yammer team into its Office 365 organization at the end of July, about two years after it acquired the company, and the vendor continues to advance the enterprise social networking platform as a premier collaboration tool at full speed. Yammer is already an integral part of Office 365.

So it’s no wonder that Microsoft encourages partners to connect to the US Partner Community on Yammer, where other partners and Microsoft sales, marketing and product experts can be found. You can use it to understand how your customers can benefit from Yammer.

In a recent US Partner Blog post, Josh Condie, Microsoft partner technology strategist with small and midsize business and distribution, talked about the value partners have reaped by joining the Office 365 Partner Community on Yammer.

At this year’s Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference (WPC) held last month in Washington, D.C., Office 365 was front and center in the company’s cloud-first strategy, along with Azure and Dynamics CRM. The vendor boasted that Microsoft Office 365 is the company’s fastest-growing product ever and that 60% of Fortune 500 companies have purchased it in the past year.

With September around the corner, partners can take advantage of new cloud-related competencies that will become available at that time — in particular, two new Office 365 competencies: Small and Midmarket Cloud Solutions, for partners selling Office 365 to SMB customers, and Cloud Productivity, for partners that sell Office 365 to enterprise customers.

A third new cloud competency, Cloud Platform, targets partners that specialize in delivering infrastructure and SaaS solutions on Microsoft Azure.
