Patch Tuesday, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2
Just a few days after releasing it, Microsoft recalled one of the security updates in this month’s Patch Tuesday after discovering it was causing problems.
Microsoft released an update for MS13-036 after receiving reports of applications failing to load and systems failing to recover from a reboot once security update 2823324 is applied.
The company described the errors appearing as a 0xc000021a Stop error or Event ID 55 in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 after the security update is installed.
To prevent issues with the security update 2823324, the company removed the security update download link from the original bulletins and is urging customers to remove the security update if they have already installed it.
MS13-036, which is listed as important, fixes an elevation of privilege vulnerability in multiple Windows systems. It is one of 13 vulnerabilities Microsoft addressed in April’s Patch Tuesday updates.
