Sorry for commenting twice in a row, just forgot to mention one thing. If MS had made a clear development path forward for XNA developers I would probably not be as unhappy about the decision. The fact however is that MS simply has told XNA game devs that we should drop XNA and go back to working in c++ with directx. Well for those who don't know, XNA was developed to offer an alternative to c++ and DX that was easier to use and reduced development time. So why all the hype over XNA for all those years, why did we learn this framework and spend countless hours developing reusable XNA code? Just to have the door slammed in our faces? Bad call MS!

I have been a Microsoft OS user all the way back to DOS 6. I have loved and hated them over the years since. Now however I feel let down by this company for several reasons. Firstly I currently use windows 7 as my primary OS. Since windows 8 has been released, I am seeing all sorts of features of windows 7 becoming obsolete already. These are things like desktop gadgets and others also. Additionally, the boys at Microsoft did such a good job of convincing me that XNA (a game programming framework in c#) was the best choice for creating and deploying games to PC, windows phone, and xbox. Now however since the release of windows 8, we have been informed that XNA will no longer be supported and XNA games will not run on the new Metro interface. This is a slap in the face to me and my development team. We were convinced by MS that this was the best, now we're told throw it out the window(s 8)!

In my opinion Microsoft is about to hang themselves. The harsh and uncharacteristic decisions they have been making recently can only spell disaster. They are not only alienating their partners, but also many windows platform software developers. Just my 2 cents.
