Among many publications proffering such guesstimates, PC World’s story “Windows 8 Beta Expected in Early 2012” gets my vote.

I’m glad to have an approximate time-frame for this upcoming release, because I want to build a new PC with a UEFI BIOS and a touchscreen in time to install the Windows 8 beta shortly after it’s let go. Looks like I’ve still got some time left to put together a new configuration. I’m guessing a lot of other readers who like to keep up with Microsoft’s release schedule may be thinking the same thing!
