No where in the release notes does the VMware Linux vCenter say it is fully released or has functionality with MySQL & PostGreSQL. Yes, VMware says that this is not fully ready and is limited to only Oracle support. They are going to evaluate and move to adding in support for one of the two major free DBs to make the appliance fully license free. That takes time and money. If you'd like to pony up some fundage I'm sure that would help move this along. Instead of down playing a tool that has the right idea, look at what it does good. You could argue that this somehow against the linux free spirit but as u are already using proprietary software (vmware) , i think you won’t mind.
