Working from home

Today I’m working from home, and thinking I may make a return visit in ‘08 to the Province of my birth, Nova Scotia. It is a beautiful place, and you really should plan to come to Nova Scotia for a visit or to make it your home or place of business. In any event, I look forward to seeing parents and relatives this year. Technology being what it is, and will become, certainly provides a means for someone to work from anywhere. And there are environmental benefits to the current generation and to future generations as more move to working from home. So, how far have we progressed in this direction over the past decade or two? What has been learned by those that have taken this direction? How do salaries compare? Do you make less when working from home? Do you save money overall? Does the company save, and get greater results? Given the IT skills shortage, surely the net benefits could be a significant attraction to draw more to an exciting and enriching career that has the potential to help make things better for the world from various perspectives.
