Human factors, ethics and grounding or foundational principles

Posted by: viip
Inherent Quality, IT

Reading this post, Wrestling Required, it may not be surprising that wrestling, within the industry and with established professions, will be part of moving forward and making things better, for example relative to the many considerations that could potentially be associated with formalizing and maturing a global IT profession. While virtually none may disagree that technology plays a major role in most businesses and many lives, some may see technology, rather than principles, more akin to sun than earth (such as with respect to which revolves around which). Perhaps that is why much blogging centers on this technology or that (e.g., as a part of the fix to major problems such as security). Should there however be more sharing and dialogue associated with other matters such as human factors, ethics and grounding or foundational principles?

A far reaching edit to the “Value delivery” IT governance focus area of CobiT 4.1

Posted by: viip
CobiT, Inherent Quality, ITGI, ISACA

The word “pervasive” can be found within the level 5 (Optimised) wording of the maturity models for P06 (Communicate Management Aims and Direction) and ME4 (Provide IT Governance). Considering what may be a far reaching edit to the “Value delivery” IT governance focus area of CobiT 4.1, “and pervasive” may be implied however could be explicitly stated after the word “intrinsic”. If you have run into resistance suggesting CobiT to an organization feel free to share a related comment or post. Please do so in a positive way and feel free to add whether you believe CobiT 4.1 is applicable to all organizations who utilize IT.

Value delivery is about executing the value proposition throughout the delivery cycle, ensuring that IT delivers the promised benefits against the strategy, concentrating on optimising costs and proving the intrinsic value of IT.

The fun, the love, and the joy, of work

Posted by: viip
Wisdomflash, Inherent Quality

It just may be that work can be fun, that you can love it, that you can receive tremendous joy from it, and that your work may extend joy to others. It just may be that the fun, the love, and the joy of work may be inside you.
It has been said that attitude is everything, so today try your best to bring happiness to the path and to love what you do.

For those who may be asking themselves whether they truly love what they do, you may enjoy this wisdomflash. This post takes no credit for the wisdomflash, simply shares awareness.

Q: Who plans to accelerate innovation, and offer a superior solution at a lower price?

Posted by: viip
PeopleSoft, IBM, Inherent Quality, Software Quality, Oracle, Google

A: Oracle and PeopleSoft say they do.

BTW recently the PeopleSoft Technology Blog shared awareness of a new site that is devoted to the Middleware Developer and perhaps a place to help you start creating SOA with your PeopleSoft applications. The site includes a link to this page of Oracle Blogs (semantic web view here, not all blogs included). Ideally the blogs further beam value inherently (intrinsically and pervasively) into your step. In any event, if your neighbors are partying and you can’t sleep perhaps you’ll find yourself doing some related reading… for example, William Vambenepe (IT management in a changing IT world) recently wrote about various IT management stories and provided a link to RedMonk’s People Over Process blog which included a link to Eric Schmidt IBM and Clouds | IT Management and Cloud Blog.

As the cloud and related applications continue to evolve and transform the value of the user experience, what database do you think will be largely inherent?

New Clinton video: In what direction will she keep moving forward?

Posted by: viip
Politics, Inherent Quality

The world is watching the US elections, and doing related blogging. For example, Telegraph.co.uk today said “Mrs Clinton is expected to easily defect Senator Barack Obama tonight, but victory would do nothing to dent his crucial delegate lead”.

Given her new video, in what direction do you think she will keep moving forward? It may be a good thing if the outcome of the election resulted in the US having Obama as President and Mrs. Clinton as another one of the innate qualities of the overall team that helps to bring about real (positive) change that (from various perspectives) is increasingly for the better, and for all.

Kudos to creative bloggers; and kudos also to Walt Disney

Walt Disney, Inherent Quality

Whether you are a Chief Blogging Officer, Chief Evangelist, or just an everyday person who shares thoughts and ideas through the net, “keep moving forward”, we learn from experience (not simply from success)… you may have a spirit, idea or invention inside of you that somehow is a small catalyst for helping to make the future bright for all. Kudos to creative bloggers; and kudos also to Walt Disney for their usage of technology in entertaining and educational ways, including through movies like Meet the Robinsons (great quote at the end, nice song too).

Technology, use it to do good (ps: cool movie, Ironman)

Posted by: viip
IT, Inherent Quality

Those with an interest in technology will likely enjoy Ironman. I did. Progressively innate improvements relative to software, technology and information, will not only align humans and technology to be more so partners, increasingly through different types of applications the two will fuse together and be more so one. Technology can save lives, and keep people alive. Increasingly it must evolve as, and be utilized as, a force for good.

Go Green: New study, Canada second last, U.S. last; surely we can do better

See story details. Are you surprised by the results? Do you think Canada and the U.S. will make leaping improvements by 2020? How about by 2035? How about much sooner? Do you think websites, blogs, online videos and so on (e.g., the global IT community, and increasingly greater collaboration with the general public, i.e. consumers) will be significant contributors to helping the planet further go green?

An Internet that makes a real difference to people’s lives, everyday

Internet Evolution, Inherent Quality

The indented quote is from this video. One idea noted in the video that may help to make an Internet that is increasingly valuable is minimally invasive education.

I’m looking for the latest Internet… I’m looking for an Internet that makes a real difference to people’s lives, everyday— Stephen Saunders

If you have an example of Internet usage that is helping to make a real positive difference to people’s lives everyday feel free to share awareness with a comment and related link. Thank you for doing so.

How can innovation be increasingly unlocked?

Posted by: viip
Gartner, IBM, Inherent Quality

Q: How can innovation be increasingly unlocked? Can it be with increased visibility, control and automation? For example see this IBM - Gartner Video.

A: By making quality, value, excellence and simplicity increasingly intrinsic and pervasive (for related thinking read Inherent Quality Simplicity; Thank you for doing so).

Search engine partnering, upstarts, mergers and advances

Google, Internet Evolution, Inherent Quality, Software Quality, Yahoo

Would it be good if Google and Yahoo partnered more? How about if they merged? Will upstarts somehow be further catalysts that help to drive innovative leaps beyond semantic, multimedia and other challenges? As a result of search engine partnering, upstarts, mergers and advances, how will surfing the web evolve by (and what will it look and feel like by) 2020?
