IT Inherent Quality

The wow (IT Inherent Quality) starts now. IT has been in existence for sometime now however now more than ever IT is poised for greatness from the perspective of truly enabling greater and greater viip for all, for every by 2020 and beyond. IT is an inherent quality. The inherent qualities within IT are enabling quality, value, excellence and simplicity to occur more innately or be more so embedded from many perspectives.

“I believe that if one is taking care of details, the end result will come to place by itself. Inherent Quality Simplicity provides techniques for people to manage details for success.” - Garry Fong, BSc, PMP, IQA, IQSA.

Garry has over 30 years of experience including 18 years with IBM and 5 with GE. His prior accomplishments include being a certified ISO9000 Internal Auditor.

Inherent Quality Simplicity is in final stages of edit. Here is another excerpt from the draft.

Meaningful information is now more easily and more immediately accessible in increased volumes to increased volumes. This is increasing awareness, educating, removing fear and facilitating cultural paradigm shifts. This is increasing the opportunity to instill simple decent old-fashion values and wisdom that work concurrent with modern day enhancements such as improved speed and increased value (e.g. features are more so being translated into benefits so consumers can make decisions more so on value rather than price). In the modern world mass retail and information sharing is being enabled at any hour any day of the year while progressively becoming more effective and cost-effective and while progressively ensuring greater value. In the modern times of the evolution, information technology can be found just about anywhere and in everything, for example from a GPS in a rent-a-car to help the customer avoid travel delays to voyages on and under water, into the sky and actually out of this world. Yet when you look closer (as various professional associations and special interest groups do) it is not hard to see more can and must be done. Now is the time for perseverance, unique blending, fun and motivation. Now is the time for increasing levels of unified inherent quality. Now is the time for many to be Inherent Quality Advocates or Inherent Quality Solutions Architects. To become either is easy. Simply do what you can in a positive, ethical and legal direction to help make quality continually more inherent or occur more inherently while challenging yourself and others to walk the talk and contribute to the evolution. To be an IQA or IQSA means you are familiar with various elements of the evolution and do your best to promote, showcase or build upon the work of others.

Zen and the art of imagination

Posted by: viip
Inherent Quality, Software Quality, Zen

Imagination is the one thing that is capable of expanding our understanding in an unrecognized direction. Innately part of individuals and expanded by collaboration it is perhaps largely an art however can be passed on to future generations and help to achieve unimagined levels of goodness.

Excerpt from Inherent Quality Simplicity

As Pirsig puts it, the Mu answers are important. They do not simply confirm or deny a hypothesis. They say the answers are beyond. And that they are in fact the vital ones which inspire inquiry and growth. In today’s world value-inherent exists. In the future thanks to the answers by 2020 and beyond, quality will become ever increasingly intrinsic and pervasive.

To you do these words look as if part of a new dialect? Rootkit hypervisors, penetration testing, fuzzing, source code static analysis, bot hunter, snort alert, vulnerability management, entitlement management, virtualization, SOA. They are part of speak on whatis.com, searchsoftwarequality.com, searchcio.com and other sites. Something within the words may help beam greater levels of viip in your step. For a bit of fun in jeopardy format what is the question for the following… a type of software program that operates as an agent for a user or another program or that simulates human activity. The question is: What is bot? Something from Inherent Quality Simplicity that fits well with this post is shown below.

Quality is not just ensure that B follows A, or remove B and we get to C quicker. It may be a whole new language and the opportunities may not be immediately in view. To evolve quality you may have to think very differently to put in focus your imagination.

There is value to providing mobile workers access to corporate data. Perhaps this is innately part of the reasoning associated with security policies for two-thirds of the mobile workforce. Perhaps this is also why blogger Shamus McGillicuddy points the finger at risky road warriors.

Inherent Quality, Software Quality, Interoperability

Coming 7 November 2007 Inherent Quality Simplicity. It is a book for everyone. It is about progress and ensuring value for others, and recognizing the power of individuals and teams. Everyone is touched by software, technology and information. IQS is in final stages of edit. It will be available to the public on schedule. Clean energy, elevated interoperability, greater simplification and harmonization and an overall elevated net IQ. Start thinking now about perfect vision leap year 2020 and beyond in order to help creatively mature and innovatively embed a mindset for joy and continually evolving quality, value, excellence and simplicity upwards and inwards. As today’s IDG Connect Summer Resource Alert puts it, as summer starts to wind down it’s time to get your toes out of the sand. This gem found within the same alert might also help you open your mind, “There is no reason for any individual to have a computer in his home”. Stated in 1977 by the President of Digital Equipment, time has since shown that clearly there was. In the future this will more so be the case. Every person today and more so in the future can contribute to evolving quality through a connection with and usage of software, technology and information. IQS is for executives, professionals and all who produce, help create, purchase and see that their quality of life is touched, improved or impacted by software, technology and information. The world has been evolving since the beginning of time. As a result quality today is more so inherent. In the centuries of the future this will increasingly be the case. Related discoveries will continue to produce higher and higher levels of value, excellence and simplicity.

Excerpt from Inherent Quality Simplicity

…Desiderata is plural for desideratum, something that is desired or felt to be essential such as an inner practice which helps each person go beyond their ordinary thoughts and progressively attain greater enlightenment and become free from self projections. Unencumbered by ideas the enlightened will see that it is in giving that we receive…

Thank you for this read. Very well done!! Inherent Quality Simplicity is a must read for anyone who recognizes Quality is a cornerstone of any business. This is especially true in IT where applications are built one on top of the other. Managers will begin initiatives immediately to work towards implementation of tighter Inherent Quality policies. I have reserved copies of the book as when released I will be giving one to each of the department managers. - Len Conlon, President & CEO, AllYourRetail.Com

Enjoyable book! Packs a lot of inspiration into 100 pages! Well Done! - Norah Topping, BSc, MBA, ISP, PMP, Topping Systems.

Ron addresses the essence of achieving quality. You have to start at the beginning with not just a process but an attitude. As in most things, the proper attitude, commitment, and desire to keep it simple leads to exceptional results. This is true not only of the software this book will help you build but the book itself. - Dan Pritchett, addsimplicity.com

We aim to increasingly ensure viip (value-inherent, intrinsic and pervasive) through the innate effectiveness and quality embedded within our products and services. - Terry Nelson, Vice President, Sales & Marketing, PROFITsystems, Inc.

Ultimately we strive to continually evolve quality from many perspectives including progressively instilling greater levels of viip (value-inherent, intrinsic and pervasive) within the steps of everything we do to energize employees, customers and socially responsible profitable business. - Cecil Smith, Senior Vice President, CGI Atlantic

…the deck provides many facts from industry think tanks on IT trends as well as a big focus on enabling an IT community of practice - something that should be embraced by various professional organizations; much of what is recommended in the deck is already underway within Bell Aliant including within our test center of excellence. The deck also includes some interesting points on expected skills shortages and trends in the types of skills that we and others will need in IT in the future. - Ivan Toner, CIO Bell Aliant Regional Communications LP

Perhaps you would be interested in listening to a podcast discuss how current trends are influencing the change in network security including what the development of embedded security will mean to the network (e.g.). Perhaps you would like to review the capabilities of Xen (the first open source virtual machine monitor which utilizes paravirtualization to deliver near native performance for modified guest operating systems) and how Intel Virtualization Technology extends Xen to offer support to unmodified guest operating systems (e.g.). Perhaps you would like to learn more about SSL VPNs given they may become the primary access method for more than 90% of employee access (e.g.). Perhaps you have heard that 80% of storage activity in North America is in organizations that have less than one billion dollars in revenue and you would like to view this webcast. Perhaps you have written a script that helps you handle a virtualization task more easily and would like to have it entered into a contest (e.g. send to editor@searchservervirtualization.com). Perhaps you would like to share awareness of progress that will help to make quality occur more innately or be more so inherent. Thank you for doing so.

Good

Software Quality, Inherent Quality, IBM, Microsoft, Security, Fun, Agile, Unification

Within all there is energy for good and a creative genius that can contribute to generating greater viip for self and others. Changing our thinking will enable us to see this and to generate greater joy throughout the world. Connect with the source. Work the inner nature. Apply the creative genius within to produce greater good. Grasp the essence and find your purpose. Through discovery, sharing and maturing all shall gain.

As upstarts and giants of all types more so come together, and as they are joined by the general pubic to pursue with earnest matters of high purpose (and urgency and importance to the world at large), quality will achieve unimagined levels well beyond what is being achieved in the first part of the 21st Century. Perfect vision leap year 2020 and beyond is poised for serious goodness if all help bring IT together to make things progressively better such as per words within this article (look for these words… evolution; centers on the evolving nature of computing; need to work with both partners and competitors in order to bring this all together; users are largely telling us what they want and it’s changing how we do business; need to evolve to keep pace; it’s important for the industry as a whole to invest in this; it’s not important that Microsoft build an identity system and get everyone to use it; and it’s not important that anyone else do that either; what is important is that they all work together; maybe that’s something that you haven’t heard from us in the past, but you’ll hear more of it in the future).

Live the wisdom of God, TAO or what you consider to be your divine source. Find the common ground, the goodness that helps ensure a common foundation and connects us all. Within each of us there is an anchor to the universe. Look for, find and make small getting started changes. As we each do this we build towards accomplishing great things. A journey of 1000 miles does begin with one step. Return to your source and connect with well-being a moment at a time. Transform.

As we let go of our ego (what we have, what we do, what others think of us) we learn to shift from fear to being curious of what we are afraid of. Shift from control to trust. Shift from a sense of entitlement to radical humility. Be wise, help all impartially, and abandon none. Live with flexibility. Transfer rigid to agile. We are water and can enter anywhere or in anyone. Water is the supreme good. Be less rigid and accomplish more. We must be flexible. Like yoga which means union we must be one with our source and flexible including in our thinking as the latter is a compass in life and heavens way to conquer is being done. Change from seeing yourself as separate to being connected to everyone in the universe. We are all one. We come from the same source known by different names. We are a tree (a family, humanity); no tree has or should have branches as foolish as to fight themselves.

The path to achieving and increasing goodness is not what is most important however. There really is no path as it is ever changing and with each change goodness is enabled to higher levels. What is important is to bring goodness to the path. Ensure goodness is inherent and bring it to the journey. Elevate quality, value, excellence and simplicity from the inside out and outside in. Goodness within leads to intrinsic and pervasive greatness from a journey that begins with a single step. Thank you for each step, for your perseverance, for motivating others, and for instilling fun, love and value. Help ensure a continually better world by 2020 and beyond thanks to the innate characteristics associated with software, technology, information and all peoples. Discover and mature inherent qualities. From any and all perspectives (and to ensure ever increasing value and joy for self and all), share, creatively mature and innovatively embed a mindset to progressively and continually have real quality occur more inherently or be more inherent.

Simply stated, quality assurance equates to prevention, quality control to detection, quality improvement to enhancement, quality management to governance, quality inherent to viip. Value based information is facilitating paradigm shifts that will enable collective wisdom to generate a simple common set of elements that truly define Qual IT. Give and build positive energy and ensure compliance inherently. It is time for more unification to improve software, technology and information. Merge associations, frameworks, products and methods to increase simplicity and elevate the aims of each. As more awaken to the power of unification the world will innately grow better and stronger as increased unification is essential as the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Quality must be built within the individuals involved. It must be inherent in their DNA and within the DNA of that which they use, interface with and produce. The world will continually be changed for the better as a result of individuals and teams embedding quality and making quality decisions that increasingly enable this.  Progressively teams will include intelligence embedded within the technology both produced from quality decisions and used to make quality decisions. As you make quality decisions they will change you. Not just you and the job but others too as quality fans out like waves. Pirsig of course said this many years ago. The notion of inherent quality has of course existed for centuries (e.g.) and fun is of course becoming a better understood characteristic (e.g.). As more awaken to the inherent notion it will be further matured and produce unimagined good. We may even start to more so inherently ensure quality and value the first time. Part of the essence of the notion is a progressive change of culture and mindset that beings first within oneself.

Do the inherent characteristics of standards fulfill the requirement to ensure quality? Will they more so in the future? Will more unification and harmonization help? As more blog about examples of things which make quality innate or occur innately (and about what in the future will more so do this), standards and tools will continue to evolve and ensure greater levels of value. The results will be far reaching; particularly as IT progressively becomes more so a global community of practice and sharing.

A fun link to go along with this post is Answers.com. Among other within you will note quality defined in 1.a. as an “inherent or distinguishing characteristic”. As you continue scrolling along you will also note that the meaning for the term quality has developed over time and that now various interpretations exists. The first then listed is ISO 9000 - “Degree to which a set of inherent characteristics fulfills requirements”.

A few words of wisdom that are perhaps suitable at this juncture are provided below.

Improvements in quality always and automatically result in reductions in schedules and costs, increases in productivity, increases in market share, and consequently increases in profits. — Dr. W. Edwards Deming

If you want a high quality software system, you must ensure each of its parts is of high quality. —
Watts S. Humphrey

We are only starting to connect the dots — Rosella Abella

Accountability breeds response-ability — Stephen R. Covey

The one thing that changes everything is trust — Stephen M. R. Covey

The time is always right to do what is right. — Martin Luther King, Jr.

Every journey begins with a single step… do the best you can and then keep the pressure on for a better system… we could have as little as 10 years in which to make significant changes… there is an old African proverb that says if you want to go quickly go alone, but if you want to go far go together, we need to go far quickly, which means we need to get a common base of agreement on the basic facts about this crisis as quickly as we can and then move forward together — Al Gore (Global Warming)

We must try to do something good, something useful with our lives. Try to be at peace with yourself and help others to share that peace. If you contribute to others’ happiness, you will find the true goal, the meaning of life — Dali Lama

The significant problems we face cannot be solved at the same level of thinking we were at when we created them. We have to do the best we can. This is our sacred human responsibility. — Albert Einstein

The whole is more than the sum of its parts — Aristotle

Inherent Quality, Software Quality, Fun, Zen

You will redefine the planet, and what will be done in the process is that you will pass the sea of quality and make fun and first principles more so inherent to raise value, excellence and simplicity beyond the cloud to a new paradigm of unified universal interconnectedness. A related excerpt from the original IQ10125v2.5 manuscript can be read here.  A few words to go along with this from Pirsig’s Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance are: inherent in the material of modern technology; the relationship between the people who produce the technology and the things they produce, which results in a similar relationship between the people who use the technology and the things they use; at the moment of pure quality, subject and object are identical; break down the barriers of dualistic thought that prevent a real understanding of what technology is - not an exploitation of nature, but a fusion of nature and the human spirit into a new kind of creation that transcends both; both classic and romantic understandings of Quality must be combined; there’s such a thing as Quality in this world and it’s real; Quality isn’t something you lay on top; real Quality must be the source of the subjects and objects; to arrive at this Quality requires a somewhat different procedure from the ‘Step 1, Step 2, Step 3’ instructions that accompany dualistic technology; classic understanding should not be overlaid with romantic; understanding should be united at a basic level; Quality is all-pervading; it’s the goal toward which method is aimed; aspects of Quality such as unity.  We must free the rational mind for an understanding which is yet to be known in order to work towards fully matured inherent quality and enable greater viip beamed into the steps of all, of every.

Software Quality, Inherent Quality, Internet Evolution, Fun

The architect is you. Take a minute and listen to a related reading from Inherent Quality Simplicity.

What will be redefined, passed or done in the future that will elevate and embed quality even further than today? What eco-sensible and gaming realities will emerge in the real and virtual world? What will enable greater robot guidance or improve software and software management methods? With a $10 microphone or one built into a computer, anyone can have a voice over the net. Will the future top that? For example, will it increase the sound quality for the same or less cost? Will this be enabled as a result of finding talent in places like this? Who will you look to in order to connect, communicate and collaborate over a unified infrastructure? What in the future will be integrated within the fabric of everyday software, technology and information? Will readings such as this add clarity within a fuzzing world?

Innovative concepts can virtually come from anywhere while making and changing quality waves on a global scale. In the future this will increasingly be the case. Many examples already exist today. A couple examples include:

(i) “The esteemed Financial Times Deutschland has determined that the U.S. is no longer the be-all and end-all of all things Internet. The newspaper is running a series of articles on innovative Web 2.0 concepts that got their start on European soil, and which are now making waves around the world.” For the rest of the story see this openblog post.

(ii) A year ago they were little more than geeky playthings, now they are the hottest tools in workflow and productivity management because they foster greater transparency and a culture of working openly, because they are culture-centric and because they are enabling a paradigm shift in terms of openness in the global community and workplace. It is to the benefit of CIOs to understand that their job is to enable knowledge workers to do more empowering work… and for the average company that is suffering in collaboration areas, this is going to improve the situation. For the rest of the story see this written in 2006.

There are remarkable revolutions going on now. Related results will be far reaching. As example they will: draw new comers to an exciting and fun career in IT; produce a new breed of IT professional that more so merges business and IT into one; elevate information (through means such as online communities) to more so be directed at the reader’s interests and needs. As a further example, visit the Storage Research Library and download ‘The Clustered Storage Revolution: Defining the Paradigm Shift to Clustered Storage’. Posted 07 Nov 2006 the paper introduces the Isilon® IQ clustered storage solution as the first to deliver on the promises of a new paradigm shift. When you apply the wording and concepts to other aspects of the profession you will further get a sense that quality is and needs to continually evolve upward and inward. Believe in a bright future for all. There are millions within the IT field. Each can contribute to making bright futures for others. There are millions more who are quickly becoming power users of software, technology and information. There is an IT skills shortage and opportunities to make IT better, and for a better IT to make things better for all throughout the world. This message then goes out to IT and more so to all presently outside the IT domain… from the perspective of inherent quality simplicity, join the field, be part of the solution. Already in today’s world you can have broadband access anywhere. You do not need to present in-person, or to attend in-person to have a voice or to stay informed. Virtual schools and opportunities to get or stay connected are increasingly available. This is good for all for every. It will enable more to contribute to high purposes such as perhaps even helping to save the planet or eliminate things like war and poverty.

Globally IT is largely unconnected islands. More so in the future IT will come together to be more so one and have many improvements of high purpose that are more so inherently for all, for every. Many individuals and things will contribute to this including this IQ. A sea, sky and interconnected universe exist. In the future a growing interconnectedness will be a further enabler to improvements associated with software, technology and information. These improvements will be seen in many ways, including within people, processes and products/services. Look closely however to see the value-inherent, intrinsic and pervasive.

Quality and value are two of the forces that shape as well as are emergent from the architecture of a software-intensive system. Interestingly, these factors - quality and value - appear to be consistent with architectural elegance and simplicity.
