Broadband, FCC, Regulations
December 29 2008 regarding the Obama FCC.
The Obama administration may be nearing the naming of its FCC choices, and some names are (again) circulating, including Julius Genachowski, a venture capitalist, and Blair Levin, a former FCC chief of staff. Adelstein and Copps, the current Democratic commissioners, are also said to be given at least some consideration, though neither is considered a strong candidate. Other outsiders include South Carolina PUC members Julia Johnson and Mignon Clyburn.
We believe the new FCC will likely move carefully, and may focus more on advising Congress on the broadband stimulus than on near-term changes in regulatory policy—but Obama has been an activist President-elect and may be more inclined to change than even we believe.
