Enterprises look to cut telecom spending; commodity threat on the horizon

Enterprises are looking to cut telecom costs in a variety of ways in 2010, according to a report that mirrors some of our survey findings and model predictions. They’re expected to put pressure on providers to lower WAN service costs and to take some specific technology actions such as compression/acceleration to reduce costs.

All of this is a demonstration that networking has fallen into a commodity buying pattern from the enterprise perspective, and that is something that providers and vendors alike will need to fight very aggressively right now, or the pattern may become permanent.
