Will rebranding Hotmail as Outlook bring users back?

Joshua Wood Joshua Wood Profile: Joshua Wood

Hi all,

In what is hailed as a smart move for Microsoft, they have rebranded Hotmail as Outlook. It’s true, Outlook is well known and well liked and Hotmail is, well, let’s just say if I was still an active Hotmail user, I would quite possibly be laughed at or told to get with the times.

Apparently Hotmail still has the largest amount of email subscribers… I’m not so sure that counts as several people I know have one and never check it. They use their Hotmail address when forced to enter an email address online and they’re worried they will get spam from it… essentially, it’s their designated junk mail box.

So, will rebranding as Outlook rebuild some active users? Perhaps. The interface is much cleaner, has several viewing options, enhanced spam control and social media integration among other things.

Have you converted a Hotmail account to an Outlook account and Outlook email address? Or have you always been an active Hotmail user… and you’re willing to admit it? Let me know!

Until next time,
