@Vitor - we have history so I know you pretty well, or at least a little. I think there are still IBM i people out there just not like it used to be in the 90s. Keep looking and I can tell you if anyone needs a rock solid IT/Lotus Designer/IBM i Pro, Vitor is your man!

Nice to see you got a little dev machine too....

@LoveMyi - Thanks for the post. Thanks to for putting the info out there. It's good to hear you have good company in that neck of the woods. The IBM i is a great platform and you seem to be putting it to good use.

David, our company is stable on the System i platform - currently converting sites to EnterpriseOne running on System i which will shut down our legacy System I LPARs on an older Systemi.

My job is very stable as the Admin/ Manager of the AS/400 Systems.

Not looking for a new gig at the present becasue there is too much work looking after 21 LPARs on 5 different machines.

Mostly check Dice and Monster from time to time just to keep abreast of the market conditions.

I live in the IBM i belt between Milwaukee and Chicago so I will not have to move to stay in the IBM i Community should this job unexpectidely leave me because there are a lot of IBM i machines within a 60 minute commute of where I live. Have not had to move in 25 years on this platform. Most jobs are within 30 minutes from home but some jobs have been on the 60 minute fringe. I consider myself very lucky to be able to not have to uproot my family each job change.

David, I think there are no i jobs anymore. Admins and developers picked up different skills along the road and are not just doing i work. Having said that here are my answers to your questions:

1 No. I even got a dedicated development machine a while ago.

2 I started as an i dev but picked up many different skills since, wouldn't survive otherwise.

3 I am, but it has nothing to do with i

4 Linkedin

5 Yes, for any job.
