this is why the GPL should be considered incompatible with CDDL, not the other way around… the GPL is viral, CDDL isn’t.

ZFS was always a great way for storage startups to get in at the ground floor, which explains why a lawsuit was thrown in Suns direction

I was always a bit hazy on the licensing stuff though. I didn’t think it was a BSD style license where you could keep your modifications/IP to yourself.

To be honest that’s a question for even more lawyers. Regardless, it’s good to see this style of innovation cropping up. It’s a great market we have right now.
