Randy, you bring up some great points here. SMBs absolutely cannot overlook the importance and value of a disaster recovery plan, yet 50% of them don’t have one. What we’ve found here at Symantec is that SMBs simply don’t know where to begin. SMBs become overwhelmed with too many options and experience a bit of decision paralysis, especially when it comes to selecting backup technology. We would suggest that SMBs look to some of the options out there, including appliance and cloud backup and disaster recovery solutions.

1. Appliance backup is great for companies with only one or two people on the IT staff, and offers the ability to backup on-site or from remote locations.
2. Cloud solutions offer the smaller businesses, with little to no IT staff, the capacities of software as a solution (agility, low initial price, pay-as-you-grow, etc.), which frees them up to not worry so much about the IT aspect of their business and instead focus on what really matters to them: the business side of their business.
