As we having been playing in this space for the past 5 years we have been tracking startups like Data Domain and Diligent Technologies, Falcon Stor, etc.

So a few funny things have happened along the way, first I enjoy the DDUP spin "his (Data Domain) channel partners wouldn’t appreciate competition from OEMs". Well the truth is the DDUP reseller have their hands full competing with the Data Domain direct sales team. Our company experienced this first hand not once but twice.

As for Diligent we have worked with and are working with them in the channel and adding Big Blue to the mix is most welcome. So as a soon to be annouced EMC - Quantum partnership I'd not want to be Data Domain of Falcon Stor right now (nor a investor), both were passed over by EMC several years ago. Now that the tier one providers are in the market these one trick ponies are soon to be just a memory.
