SRM company enters market with SaaS offering

Storage Fusion, a U.K.-based startup with roots in storage analytics, has an SRM SaaS offering that VARs and MSPs may be interested in. The company’s master plan is to have a thousand customers for its flat-rate Storage Resource Analysis product in two years. SRA can either be hosted by MSPs in their data center, or VARs and integrators can resell the services provided by another hosting company. (Storage Fusion doesn’t host the software itself.)

The company said the product competes with on-premise software from companies such as Aptare, Tek-Tools and Monosphere. (We’ve covered those other tools in the past; here’s a recent story we ran on improving customers’ operating expenses with them.)

It provides data on capacity, configuration, tiering and power use by environment. End users can drill down for more detail in each of those areas. Before purchasing the product, Storage Fusion allows use of SRA for analysis of a customer’s environment to allow the VAR to determine where cost savings can be found through such practices as consolidation and reclamation of storage space. By buying SRA, customers get more specific information around the areas of potential savings.

In the United States, Storage Fusion is currently represented by Unisys and GlassHouse.
