RecoverGuard gaining European presence

Continuity Software, maker of RecoverGuard disaster recovery and business continuity monitoring software, says it’s expanding its channel partner program into Europe and already has a number of VARs lined up to sell RecoverGuard there.
Partner benefits may be what draws a particular VAR to a particular vendor in some cases. But for Volker Schlenker, managing director of reseller/distributor Bridge2EU GmbH, which is based in Berlin and Bobloingen, Germany, Continuity’s product was the biggest draw. He said Bridge2EU considered competitors to RecoverGuard and Continuity Software but that it decided to become a Continuity partner because RecoverGuard “is a unique product.” The amount of data available about a customer’s systems is very appealing, he said. Schlenker said he learned about RecoverGuard from a few customers who’d suggested he look into the product.
Schlenker said the product is “the collective memory of thousands of systems engineers. They know the problems, the gaps in the systems.” In the same way, he said, RecoverGuard can see if something is out of order and react before a problem occurs.
While some in the DR industry would argue that DR readiness can’t be assured by a systems monitoring product, the biggest value proposition of RecoverGuard, Schlenker said, is that it enables companies to extend the time frame for formal DR testing since the application monitors customer systems on a continual basis. “It’s an assurance plan at a rather low cost,” he said.
Schlenker said that he’s been in contract negotiations with a number of high-profile, large German companies about implementing RecoverGuard, including those in the telecommunications, automotive and financial markets.
