You can push a SSRS 2005 report to a 2008 server without issue, but going the other way doesn't work. I do it here at work as well as my laptop at home. I can write reports for SSRS 2005 or 2008 depending on which server I need to publish to. I personally wouldn't bother with trying to hack a 2008 report down to work in 2005 as the reason I write in 2008 is to take advantage of 2008's features. You CAN also simply publish a report written in 2005 to a 2008 report server as it is backwards compatible. So i sure would love to see a workaround! -On a hunt.
