So along those lines a bus has been setup taking people from SoCal to the next Desert Code Camp and registration is open to get a seat on the bus.  Now if you plan on taking the bus don’t wait until its to late to sign up.  If enough people don’t sign up for the bus, it’ll be canceled.

“Storage for the DBA” is a session I’ve given a few times at SoCal Code Camp where we go into the basics of storage, and how it relates to SQL Server.

“There’s more to know about storage?” is a followup to the “Storage for the DBA” session where we will go into the design techniques that the various storage vendors have used to create their respective platforms.  From there we’ll move into some of the more advanced features you can use with storage arrays that turn the from the large JBOD that most people think of them into advanced storage devices worth every penny that they cost.

In the DACPAC session we’ll look at this new feature called Data Tier Applications to see how they work, when they should be used, and when they shouldn’t be used.

The panel discussion will have a large number of SQL Server professionals from the Southern California area including myself, Andrew Karcher (Blog | Twitter), Lynn Langit (Blog | Twitter), Bret Stateham (Blog | Twitter), and several more all there to answer your questions about SQL Server.

I hope to see you there at Code Camp.

Now apparently they know our SQL community pretty well, because they sent a chicken…

Now they sent three coffee mugs, but you’ll notice there are only two in the picture above.  That’s because one didn’t survive the trip.  So if you come up with a really bad question you’ll be punished with the broken cup, or if you have a really good sense of humor of course.

Now the Chicken probably isn’t going to make it to Code Camp, I’m pretty sure that it’s going to magically fly its way to SQLChicken (aka Jorge Segarra, @SQLChicken).

The answer to both questions is yes.  We did just have one, but it is time for another one.  The Fullerton Code Camp (this weekend) is on a pretty fixed schedule, it is the weekend before the Super Bowl.  The LA Code Camp which we had a couple of months ago tries to follow a local Microsoft Event which leaves the scheduling to the people at Microsoft.

But all that doesn’t really matter because this weekend, rain or shine (so far weather.com says shine), we are having another Code Camp.

I’ll be presenting 4 sessions this time.
