New SQL Server 2008 MCTS Certification Book

Posted by: mrdenny
Book, Certifications

There’s a new SQL Server 2008 MCTS Certification book on the market.  It is “The Real MCTS SQL Server 2008 Exam 70-432 Database Implementation and Maintenance“.  I normally don’t post book releases as there are a lot of new books coming out these days.  However I published this one because I wrote part of it.  The book is a complitation of several authers work, and I wrote three of the chapters in the book.

So if you are looking to get your MCTS Certification I’d recommend that you check it out.

This is my first book credit (though not listed on Amazon), and there will be a second one from the same publisher coming out soon.

Certifications, PASS

Microsoft and PASS have announced that you can take a free Microsoft Certification exam.  Visit the PASS Community Summit 2008 Microsoft Learning Certification Center Registration Site for more information.

I have just registered for one, so thier appear to still be free registrations available.

This program is only available for people who are going to PASS, and you have to take the exam at the PASS summit (which requires attentance to the  summit).

See you at PASS.

A while back I was flipping through the Microsoft news groups and found a link to an excellent story that networkworld.com put together on how Microsoft is protecting it self from brain dump sites and exam cheaters, and how they are protecting the investment that we all have made in getting Microsoft certifications.

Why Entry-Level Certs Aren’t Enough to Get You a Job

Certifications, IT careers, Ed Tittle

Ed Tittel has written an excellent post on his blog (IT Career JumpStart) entitled Why Entry-Level Certs Aren’t Enough to Get You a Job.  I think that this is an excellent read for anyone who is just starting out in the IT Certification path (including the MCP, MCDBA, MCTS, MCITP, etc path).

Thanks Ed!
