Hey Denny !
Thanks for the great article ….
Can you please tell me how to compile my sql server to use the 64 bit OS?
How do I make sure that it only runs in 64 bit mode?
Thanks
Erik

You can’t actually recompile Microsoft SQL Server. Microsoft doesn’t release the source code for SQL Server as it’s a closed source project. You would have to use the 64-bit installer. Microsoft has released three different builds via three different DVDs. One is the good old 32bit, one is the x64 edition and one is the 64bit Itanium build. If you have the wrong one you’ll need to contact Microsoft have have then send you the correct media pack. There is no cost difference between the three, but there is usually a small charge to get the media sent out.
