Foreigner to play VMworld Party 2009

Colin Steele Colin Steele Profile: Colin Steele

It’s now less than three weeks away, and I am really getting excited for VMworld 1979.

Oh, I’m sorry. I mean VMworld 2009. You’ll have to excuse my confusion. It’s just that, ever since VMware announced the band playing the VMworld Party, I’ve had a little trouble figuring out what year it is.

If you haven’t heard by now, here’s the band:

That’s right. It’s Foreigner.

After all, there’s no better way to unwind after three days of virtualization than to hold your lighter up in the air and sing along to “I Want to Know What Love Is.” Don’t believe me? See for yourself:

It's difficult to hide the lack of excitement I have to see Foreigner at VMWorld. I just hope they leave their walkers back stage. Now, Van Halen, also a 1979 band, may have been a different story.

This will be like the year the NFL went on strike and they got a bunch of replacements to wear NFL uniforms and pretend to be an NFL team. Ok.. so Mick Jones is still in the band but its hard to get excited about this. And to top it off, they are playing a free concert in Boise (my home) the week before VMworld at the Western Idaho Fair. I think I'll probably skip the concert at both venues.
