Sun patches Solaris security flaw
Posted by: Bill Brenner
Companies that use Sun Microsystems’ Solaris operating system have a security fix to deploy. Sun said in an advisory in its security blog that it has addressed a flaw in the Solaris Named Pipes program, which attackers could exploit to access unauthorized memory locations. “This may allow a local unprivileged user to read potentially sensitive data in the kernel’s memory layout or in the memory layouts of other processes running on the system,” Sun said.
Solaris 8, 9 and 10 are affected.
