Security update for Opera browser
Posted by: Bill Brenner
Opera Software has updated its popular Web browser to fix a flaw attackers could exploit to blow past security checks and run malicious code on targeted machines.
“A security issue in the Adobe Flash Player running in Opera on Linux, Solaris or FreeBSD has been found,” Opera said in an advisory. While the company didn’t describe the flaws in greater detail, the French Security Incident Response Team (FrSIRT) said in an analysis on its Web site that digital miscreants could exploit it by tricking the user into visiting a specially crafted Web page.
Upgrading to Opera 9.20 and Adobe Flash Player 9 fixes the problem.
