When I first installed SCCM 2012 beta into my site with SCCM 2007 running I had problems with the MP not installing which had me scratching my head for a while and what it turned out to be was rather simple. The SCCM 2007 server had tried to install the client on the new SCCM 2012 server and I had to download the SMS 2003 Toolkit and run the CCMClean.exe /all on the server which cleaned up the client of the SCCM 2007 server and then my MP took off and installed like it should have. I did turn off the discovery portion of the SCCM 2007 server so that would not happen again. But it was a simple enough fixed.

In my testing of the SCCM 2012 and the migration I accidentally deleted some of the computers that had been collected and was manageable and this is what had to be done to fix the problem. I was getting the error of “MP has rejected policy request from Client GUID: because the SMSID is marked as blocked. in the SMS_MP_CONTROL_MANAGER logs. I dug around and finally found that it had to do with the certs that was installed on the client. I had to go into the Certificate MMC for the computer and under the SMS folder delete those certs in there. Did a manual uninstall of the Client and then deleted the CCM folders from within the Windows folder and also the SMScfg.ini file after the uninstall and then reran the install and then the client picked back up and showed back up in the Management Area. I know a lot of work for a whoops but that was ok learned something new.

Have you checked out the SCCM 2012 Beta yet? It is a big change from the SCCM 2007 for looks and feel of the program. They have gotten away from the mmc and actually have a console for this now. They have added a Migration part to it so you can migrate from your SCCM 2007 Site to SCCM 2012 and that actually works as I migrated my SCCM 2007 trial site I had going on here at work to the SCCM 2012 Beta with no issues. I did not have much going on with that site other than to remote control to the remote locations and the computers there with issues so it was not a real complicated move. The complicated part was learning where they moved everything in the new console. More on this later as I dig deeper into this.
